Rev. Maggy Whitehouse
The Dark Mother
Reflections on Darkness & Light

Talk Details
Light is good – right? And darkness is bad… But what about too much light?
We humans now live in more light than ever before and we are devoted to it, with screens everywhere. We are out of balance and it shows.
Remember the legendary fallen angel, Lucifer?
His name means ‘light bearer.’ How could evil possibly tempt us without being attractive? It must deceive us with light, and with glamour and with ease and with half-truths.
Night and darkness have long been associated with the feminine so to demonise one is to demonise the other.
We need healthy darkness: the depth of the womb which brings forth all life.
Honouring the sacred darkness is spiritual maturity.
Let us rediscover The Dark Mother in teaching and meditation. She is the essential wisdom and depth of the night; the forgotten, overlooked foundation of our souls.
By honouring the darkness of the Cailleach, we acknowledge and mend our ‘shadow,’ healing addiction, pain, dis-ease and prejudice in our lives.
Workshop leader: Rev. Maggy Whitehouse, author of Kabbalah and Healing and A Woman’s Worth. The Divine Feminine in the Hebrew Testament.
"Maggy Whitehouse is brilliant, funny as hell, and wise. Let her entertain you, embolden you and awaken you to the power of your own essential nature" - Prof. Peter Bolland, Philosophy Chair, Southwestern College, San Diego.
